The video features 15 innovative technologies designed for the elderly and people with special needs. These technologies were developed by Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and LSCM.

LSCM has developed some assistive tools tailor-made for social services sector in order to make their lives convenient, including “smart communication cards” which can assist the speech-impeded people to express themselves; environment monitoring system can effectively monitor whether there is any home accidents occurred on the elderly through a special-image monitoring system; “home-stay wellness sensing system” which can help the elderly to get prompt assistance if any falling accidents happened at home; the RFID tagged vest and key case which can prevent the elderly from getting lost and be located quickly; and “smart guiding cane” and recognition system that give voice instructions to the visually impaired.
