Multiple Input Energy Harvesting Integrated Circuit using Silicon-On-Insulator Technology

Print

Overview

The goal in energy harvesting is to enable self -powered electronic devices by scavenging ambient energy for various electronic applications ranging from wearable and logistic monitoring. Many applications require various harvesting forms. In market, the energy harvesting chipset can harvest only one input or technical performance cannot fit requirements. A single chip solution of multiple input harvesting is a strong demand. LSCM proposes to apply SOI to develop a micro-scale energy harvesting IC for small battery or batteryless devices through different harvester. In silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process, multiple threshold voltage transistor, high transition frequency and low substrate leakage are superior comparing with bulk CMOS and BiCMOS process. The proposed IC will include RF voltage multiplier, active rectifier and low voltage doubler inputs to facilitate different harvester for wide range applications. The circuit will be taped out to multi project wafer (MPW) and the design will be silicon proven.
