Overview

In November 2019, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced 16 measures benefiting Hong Kong people after attending the meeting of the Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The measures include allowing the use of Hong Kong-registered pharmaceuticals and common medical devices in designated Hong Kong-owned healthcare institutions in the Greater Bay Area. In response to this policy, this project is to tackle issues arose in the circulation, such as standard compatibility, privacy protection, cross-boundary data sharing, data coordination. This project will research and develop a Cross-boundary Track & Trace Platform for Pharmaceutical Supply Chain based on Consortium Blockchain, and a Pharmaceutical Approval Management Platform based on Domestic Blockchain. There are 3 goals for this project: (1) to establish a secure and efficient channel for data exchange; (2) to provide a one-stop cross-boundary pharmaceutical circulation & regulation platform facilitating HK/GBA pharma distributors, hospitals in GBA, as well as regulatory authorities in both Mainland China and Hong Kong; (3) to achieve standard compatibility, trackability and traceability.
