On 19th and 20th February 2024, the Lion Dance performance had respectively been arranged in both the Cyberport and Science Park Offices with a view to celebrate the Chinese New Year and to bring prosperity, good luck, and ward off evil spirits for the coming year. The lion dance performance was filled with energy and excitement, and the Lion Dancers, adorned in colorful lion costumes, showcased their incredible acrobatic skills, and coordinated movements and our employees was in high spirits symbolizing good luck and blessings. The Lion Dance brought the employees together, spreading joy, happiness, and good fortune for Year of the Loong.

To contribute the community services, LSCM joined and sponsored the “Barrier Busters 2023”, a fund-raising event as organized by the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, on December 17, 2023, in AIA Vitality Park, Central. Such outdoor event aimed to provide participants the experiences of engaging with some disabled people. The staff participants simulated various types of disabilities under various conditions such as visual impairment, hearing impairment and physical disability, to experience the difficulties encountered by the disabled and chronically ill in community life through which to improve the public’s awareness of the disabled.

LSCM always encourages its staff to join in activities with a view to providing staff members with training opportunities and collaboration with other community partners. On 9 December 2023, about 30 staff members participated in the “Corporate Challenge Outward Bound Activity 2023”, a Fun Staff Engagement with Charitable & ESG initiatives at Lingnan University Multi-Purpose Outdoor Sports Ground in Tuen Mun. The participation is very successful and a memorable as well as impactful experience had been earned which will provide them with long-lasting benefits.

LSCM has achieved outstanding results at the 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA) and Palexpo, Geneva, which was held on 7 – 8 December. The AI Vision Technology for Heat Source Detection to Enhance the Effectiveness of Automated Hill Fire Surveillance has received the Gold with Congratulations of Jury Award and also a special award, the Chinese Association of Inventions (CAI) Award. And the Automated Concrete Cube Testing System has received a gold award. The technologies that received the silver awards were the AIoT Herbal Picking and Delivery System for Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Vehicle Detection and Alert System for Better Mobility, RFID Device (Two-piece Device for Tolling Application), as well as Robo-9 with Multi-Sensor Technologies for Visually Impaired. The other award-winning technologies were the Baby Tag and Baby Tracking Management Control System and Tele-practice Platform System. The LSCM team is excited to have received the acclamation again in this event and will continue to develop various innovative technologies to serve the industry’s and community’s needs.

On 1 December 2023, LSCM staff attended the ‘Deep Sea Expedition Open Day & Exhibition’ with a valuable tour to the “Shen Kuo Research Vessel” at Ocean Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui. The tour provided a unique opportunity to witness scientific exploration firsthand and was fascinating to see the cutting-edge equipment and technology used by the researchers to study marine life and the ocean ecosystem. Colleagues are impressed by the dedication and passion of the scientists on board, who were eager to share their work and answers to questions. It was truly inspiring to see their commitment to understanding and preserving the oceans. The crew members were friendly to every visitor to ensure that everyone had a great experience. Such an event was well-organized and smoothly run. The “Shen Kuo Research Vessel” tour gave a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the ocean and the importance of scientific research. It was a truly eye-opening experience which is worthy to anyone interested in the mysteries of the deep sea. An unforgettable experience for us on marine research.

In this year’s Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), LSCM again partnered with HKTDC to organise the LSCM Maritime Summit 2023 on 21 November. With the theme of "Charting the Course: The Power of Digitalisation for Hong Kong to Build a Smarter Shipping Hub", the speakers’ presentations and discussion centered around the development of Smart Port and logistics technology. At the Summit, LSCM signed a MoU with COSCO Shipping and The Chamber of Hong Kong Logistics Industry (CHKLI) to strengthen the collaboration among the three organisations in the development of Smart Port. LSCM also showcased a series of logistics technologies developed by the Centre at the ALMAC, encouraging the industry to adopt innovative technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. The showcased technologies included the award-winning Electronic Power Assist Trolley System, Cold Chain Robot, Tele-Control Warehouse Stackers Using 5G, as well as the e-Smart Port Platform.
